Amazon India has opened 11 additional fulfillment centers in preparation for the festive period

Amazon India announced on Thursday that it aims to fulfill by adding 11 new centers and nearly doubling storage capacity over the previous year. Over 60 fulfillment centers and more than 25 specialized sites dedicated to Amazon Fresh’s daily necessities and groceries choices Amazon India currently has. The total floor space of Amazon India’s fulfillment network will exceed 10 million square feet.

With 25 specialized sites devoted to Amazon Fresh selections for everyday necessities and groceries around the country and currently has over 60 fulfillment centers in India.

In states like Bihar, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Assam, Punjab, West Bengal, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Telangana, the new fulfillment centers, as well as the extension of nine existing ones, will be built that will serve consumers and merchants. Some of these additional fulfillment centers will open before Prime Day 2021, and all will open before the festival season.

Akhil Saxena said, “With the increased storage capacity, we will continue to seamlessly cater to the growing demand of our customers while offering a better experience with a wider selection and faster delivery. It will also provide a fillip to the ancillary businesses in packaging, logistics, and transportation, amongst others while creating meaningful work opportunities across the country” he is the VP, Customer Fulfilment Operations, APAC, MENA & LATAM, in Amazon.
