India’s indigenous e-commerce marketplace Flipkart has launched a ‘Back to College’ program to let students access a variety of educational courses and computing equipment.

Through partnerships with prominent edtech companies such as Edukemy and Simplilearn, Flipkart will make a large range of smart devices and bundled education material available. Students will be able to choose from around 400 courses in coding, artificial intelligence, and competitive admission exams as part of the project. According to a Flipkart statement, this program seeks to improve pupils’ learning potential by prioritizing digital learning.

Flipkart has created a dedicated page on the marketplace to help kids pick the proper computer and electrical products like laptops, tablets, printers, audio devices, IT accessories, and online learning resources as part of the almost three-month effort which began in June.

Rakesh Krishnan, Senior Director, Electronics at Flipkart, said, “With nearly 40-45 percent of the demand for electronics coming from the student community and the significant rise in the adoption of online learning since last year, the industry is now shaping its offerings to cater to this fast-growing customer segment and bring various interventions.”

“Through our ‘Back to College’ program, students will benefit from a wide variety of courses offered by partners, along with a large selection of computing devices available on Flipkart that will cater to their diverse needs and support them in choosing the best learning materials available,” he further added.

As a result of the epidemic, students have turned to learn from home, which has increased the supply of computer equipment such as laptops and tablets. Surprisingly, although school kids prefer to buy low-cost laptops, college students prefer to buy high-end laptops to do complicated jobs that demand a lot of processing power, according to the sources.

According to Flipkart’s consumer analytics, customers of computer devices are more interested in online learning resources. Moreover, Flipkart made collaboration with Codingal, Avishkaar, Prograd, and Vendantu in April to offer online courses for school kids, which received positive feedback from consumers.
