Microsoft’s latest update resolves AMD CPU performance concerning in Windows 11

Today, Microsoft is issuing a new Windows 11 update that addresses several AMD CPU performance concerns. At launch, AMD and Microsoft discovered two problems with Windows 11 on Ryzen CPUs, one of which caused L3 cache latency to treble and slowed performance by up to 15% in certain games. Microsoft has recently resolved this issue in Windows 11 Build 22000.282, which is currently available as an optional upgrade in Windows Update to all Windows 11 customers.

While the last Windows 11 upgrade exacerbated these issues, today’s patch should permanently resolve them on the L3 cache latency front. The second unresolved issue concerns AMD’s preferred core technology, which transfers threads to the fastest core on a chip. This second fault, according to AMD, may have an impact on performance on CPU-intensive operations, and AMD has already published a new chipset driver to solve it, version 3.10.08.506.

This new Windows 11 version also contains a slew of changes, such as one to address an issue that stops the Start menu from launching following an OS upgrade, as well as adjustments to input delays for some Bluetooth mice and keyboards. The complete list of fixes included in this patch can be seen on Microsoft’s website.
