Detecting bad and antisocial behavior like covid-19 protocols and necessary measures to be taken properly, Singapore has landed its autonomous robots on trial. According to a statement released by Singapore’s Home Team Science and Technology Agency on Sunday, robots are on trial to identify undesirable behavior like flouting COVID-19 safety measures, smoking in restricted places, and illegal bicycle parking.

The study is taking conducted in a high-traffic location in downtown Singapore. The two patrol robots, known as Xavier, are outfitted with cameras that can identify poor social behavior and provide real-time notifications to the command and control center, according to the report.

The robots would be used for presenting messages to educate the public on correct behavior and monitoring during the three-week experiment, according to the government. During the experiment, the robots will not be utilized for law enforcement, according to a spokeswoman for the agency.

“The deployment of Xavier will support the work of public officers as it will reduce the manpower required for foot patrols and improve operation efficiency,” the agency said.

In August Singapore’s home affairs minister, K Shanmugam, stated that the city-state intended to have more than 200,000 police cameras installed across the island state in Southeast Asia by 2030, more than doubling the present number.
