Twitter declared Jeremy Kessel as the new grievance officer to address the grievances of Indian users.

In the middle of the uproar, Twitter has chosen Jeremy Kessel, an American citizen, as India’s new Grievance Officer. Jeremy Kessel also serves as the Director of Global Legal Policy at Twitter. Although the government told Twitter for appointing an Indian grievance officer. Jeremy Kessel has been appointed in the place of Dharmendra Chatur, who was recently stepped down from his post. On May 31 Twitter appointed Dharmendra Chatur, partner at law as the temporary grievance officer of Twitter in India.

However, after the disapproval of the center, on Sunday Dharmendra chatur had been resigned from the post. Twitter is still embroiled in a legal battle with the Indian government. The reason for conflict is a new IT regulation. The central government wanted Twitter to recruit a grievance officer for India who will address the grievances of users relating to India, the conflict arises when Twitter told the government that they need more time to choose a grievance officer, according to Twitter “Due to covid they are unable to find a suitable grievance officer to appoint in India.

However, the government doesn’t want to give more time to Twitter as according to them they already give enough time to Twitter to hire an officer, and in the response to this government removed the Intermidiatory status of Twitter. Furthermore, Twitter is also recently stucked in a dispute due to the viral video of the assault of an old-age Muslim man from U.P due to this issue the chief of Twitter, India Manish Maheshwari has been summoned by the U.P police.

Twitter’s conflict with the government turned even more intense when Twitter suspended India’s IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad’s Twitter account for an hour.
