The recently discovered security flaw ended up affecting all of the versions of Windows. Following which Microsoft has released security updates for Windows users to address a security flaw in the Windows Print Spooler service.
The vulnerability known as “PrintNightmare,” was discovered last week. It allows attackers to remotely execute malicious code with system privileges and instal programmes, make changes to existing programmes, and create new accounts with full user rights.
Microsoft has released an emergency patch for all major Windows versions, beginning with Windows 7 and ending with Windows 10. Windows Server users have also received specific security updates to address the critical flaw.
Windows Server 2019, Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2004, Windows Server 8, Windows 10, Windows RT 8.1, Windows 8.1, Windows 7, Windows Server 2012 RT, Windows Server 2008, are among the Windows versions that have received security updates to address the PrintNightmare vulnerability. Microsoft stated that the updates include mitigations for the CVE-2021-34527 vulnerability.
Since the Windows Print Spooler service prevails on all versions of Windows, the vulnerability has affected all Windows machines. However, the list of security updates is currently limited to a few versions. Microsoft stated that it would update the remaining Windows versions as soon as possible.
