Soon after the first data breach that Acer India suffered, Acer India witnessed another data breach in which the hackers were able to get access to more than 60 GB of data from Acer India’s servers.
Reportedly, the group behind the second data breach is said to be Desorden. The group claims that it was able to get its hands on 60 GB of data which includes customer information, sensitive data, and data relating to the customer’s financials. It has also been reported that the data of almost 3000 users has been compromised which includes login credentials also.
According to the reports of the Hindustan Times, “We have hacked and breached Acer India servers (www.acer.co.in). We have stolen over 60GB of files and databases from their servers. This includes their customer, corporate, accounts, and financial data. Affected customer data are in the millions,” said Desorden on a popular hacker forum. Desorden added the data sets published so far do not include emails. “More data will be published.” These are the words of the hacking group that is responsible for hacking Acer India’s servers.
The spokesperson at Acer said in a statement that they are doing everything that is in their capacity to save the customer’s data from any further breaches. As soon as they got the intimation, they initiated the security protocols and started the full system scan of the computers and other systems.
The incident has been reported to law enforcement and they will carry out a further investigation. Although, all the impacted customers has been notified about the data breach.
