Recently, a German company, Medatixx got hacked and hit by a gang of ransomware attackers leading to shutting down all the operations for a while. Medatixx, a famous medical software providing company in Germany has its roots in over 21000 medical institutions.
Medatixx also provides an online appointment bookings service and video consultation to its customers. It also practices IT and practice management software.
Following the ransomware attack, Medatixx intimated its customers and users and advised everyone to change and update their passwords for further security.
In the middle of last week, we were the target of a cyberattack in which important parts of our internal IT system were encrypted. As a result, our accessibility as well as the entire company operation are currently severely impaired.
Says a source from the organisation
The company also stated that during the hack, none of the customer’s data was affected and the shock has been absorbed only by the internal systems. Also, there is no need for the institutions using their softwares to be worried as none of their Practice Management Systems got impacted.
Nevertheless, attackers may have managed to obtain Medatixx users’ credentials, as the company doesn’t know what information was stolen during the incident. Followed by the attack, the customers were advised to do the following things.
- Change the password credentials
- Change Windows login passwords on all servers
- Change TI connector passwords
The attackers are still unknown and it is hoped that the company might find them real soon.
