Instagram’s CEO, Adam Mosseri, highlighted the photo-sharing app’s primary goals for 2022 on Tuesday, including a focus on video. Videos, messaging, transparency, and creators are the four important areas on which the Meta-owned site will focus in the coming year, according to him.

The Instagram CEO also discussed important upgrades to the app this year, such as the ability to conceal like counts and sensitive content control. This year, Instagram also launched Limits and Hidden Words, a feature that prevents abusive direct message (DM) requests.

Mosseri shared Instagram’s basic aims for 2022 in a video on Twitter.

Mosseri said, “We’re going to have to rethink what Instagram is because the world is changing quickly and we’re going to have to change with it,” Mosseri outlines Instagram’s goals for 2022 in the video, which include videos, transparency, messaging, and creators.

Instagram plans to combine all of its video formats around Reels in the next year.

He further added, “We’re going to double down on our focus on video, we’re no longer just a photo-sharing app, and consolidate all our video formats around Reels and continue to grow that product.”

In the coming year, Instagram will focus on messages and increase its work on controls to boost transparency, according to Mosseri. He promised that Instagram would launch additional monetization options to assist and empower producers on the network to make a living.

Mosseri says, “We’re thinking about who we are, what we value, and what kind of change we want to affect in the world.”

Mosseri also discusses the features that Instagram implemented this year to give users greater control over their feeds and profiles in the video. Controls to censor sensitive information, a ‘hide like count’ tool, and a ‘limits’ feature are among them.
