HOW TO BUY A CHROMEBOOK?
- DESIGN-Chromebooks generally come in two styles – the traditional clamshell and the 2-in-1 pattern with a 360-degree hinge. If you’re using the Chromebook for drawing then the 2-in-1 style may work better as the hinge helps you fold the keyboard to a tablet form. For plain browsing and research purposes, the clamshell’s steady design may be a major selling point for you.
- SPECS-Similarly, there is a way to figure out what specifications you need in a Chromebook. There are also tools for determining how much power and storage you’re getting for your money. In a Chromebook, most of your larger files could be uploaded to Google Drive, which is your cloud storage. Ask how much storage a specific model can provide you in Google Drive.
- RAM-Speaking of RAMs, Chromebooks come with either 2GB or 4GB. While an HP Chromebook 14 (4GB RAM) or Lenovo 100S Chromebook (2GB RAM) attributes Celeron N2840 processors; the HP offers more open tabs than Lenovo’s only 10 open Chrome tabs. You may opt for models with 8 to 16 GB RAMS depending on what you plan to do.
- CPU-This is the processor that helps determine how smoothly your Chromebook performs, especially when streaming video or playing online games where multiple tabs are open. For example, CPUs like Celeron and Pentium are fine for simple browsing using only one or two tabs open but can be sluggish even under Windows 10. But in a similar situation, a Chromebook offers a better user experience under the same specs. Therefore, Chromebooks with Intel Core CPUs like the Core i3, and the Core i5 are great for multitasking. If possible, consider 10th-generation processors.Intel Chromebooks have enough speed to run Android apps. On the other hand, if you choose a Chromebook without an Intel Chip or models designed for simple browsing; there are Acer Chromebooks that still offer excellent graphics performance even without a touch screen.
- STORAGE SIZE-The Chrome operating system is noted as a lightweight model and doesn’t need much storage. Most packs offer plain 16GB of onboard storage which is often the amount of space you’ll need basically. This is why it offers the use of Google Drive or other preferable storage solutions like Dropbox.Once Android support is required on the scene, you may need to use an SD card reader where it gives you up to 64GB of storage. In a Chromebook, the files normally are stored in the cloud, so it may only use a small serving of eMMC-based storage, that’s usually 32GB or 64GB. Do you have more files to save? Then look for an SD card slot.Upon purchase, Google already sets 100GB storage in its Google Drive.
- SCREEN-Everyone wants a portable computer screen that displays their work in the right way. Then, you will find the value in an accurate colour panel with a size of 1366 x 768-pixel for your writing and reading needs. But if you are looking for sharp images, video, and images, a full HD x 1920 x 1080 pixel is perfect for that.If Windows 10 is famous for its touch screen feature, Chrome OS can offer you the same functionality. Although it may be expensive, you can get a good investment in the $ 280 Acer Chromebook R 11 that can bend the tablet with a touchable IPS screen display. Chromebooks also offer mid-range laptops with screens from 13 to 15 inches wide. .
- COMMUNICATION-Wi-Fi connected Chromebooks bring a quick and easy user experience. You should be able to access the Internet without a problem. In cases where Wi-Fi availability is not guaranteed, some Chromebooks offer Instant Tethering to connect you to the Internet via an Android mobile network connection. The Chromebook allows presentations using HDMI, video output, or USB port to attach a mouse or other peripheral cable. Another trick in your presentations is to check the connectivity of your Bluetooth speakers.
- BATTERY LIFE-One big but common problem with laptops is battery. If you use your laptop at school, you may wish it could last longer before your classes are over. The Chromebook battery is much higher than most portable computers on the market.Of the 10 Chromebooks reviewed on this list, I saw an average of 9 hours and 15 minutes of patience in their battery tests that included continuous web filtering and live streaming of the movie.
Many Chromebooks are designed and built with the teachers in mind. Teachers and students alike know that they will be spending most of their time in the Chrome browser and working on Google Docs. And they are very easy to use and properly protected. Moreover, it is very easy to update them.
Here are the top 10 Chromebooks that will benefit most teachers. Make sure you know what you want and see if you can find it in any of the products mentioned. Remember to consider the things I said in the purchase guide.
