Despite a report in The Information that the network equipment maker was working on a membership service to help enterprises move from public to private data centers, Cisco Systems stated on Friday that it did not plan to offer such a service.
Cisco’s proposed subscription service, Cloud Stack, will also assist manage hardware and software within private data centers for clients that can’t or don’t want to do it themselves, according to the article.
A company spokesperson said in a statement, “We are focused on hybrid cloud tooling across public and private infrastructures. At this time we are not planning to offer a solution to specifically repatriate cloud apps and any suggestion otherwise is inaccurate.”
According to the article, which cited persons familiar with the situation, there is no clarification on the timeframe for the introduction of Cloud Stack, which is still in the early stages of development.
As companies, schools, and government institutions sought cost-effective methods to get online during the epidemic, demand for cloud service providers soared.
