Pacific city bank is a California based bank that provides financial services and mainly caters to the Korean-American community. The bank started its operations in 2003 and is currently functioning in 12 branches and 8 loan enterprises.
AVOS Locker gang claims to have sneaked into Pacific City Bank’s systems and have extracted some important and sensitive files or data. The gang normally sends a message to their victim after encrypting their files and threatens to leak all of the data on their site if the ransom is not paid on the mentioned date.
In this case, on 4th September, 2021 the gang listed the bank’s name on their leak site along with some proof of the attack.
The threat actors sarcastically mentioned the bank’s abysmal security measures, saying that the bank offers outstanding banking services but has very poor security.
They also stated that if the bank will not agree to negotiate, they will leak all of the data they’ve got and attached a ZIP file labelled as a Proof, carrying the stolen data.

Companies and organisations need to be more vigilant with their security measures and update it every once in a while because the technology will increase exponentially and the hackers will definitely upgrade theirs.
