BMW to remove touch screen capability due to chip shortage

A Semiconductor chip shortage become a major issue worldwide, several big and small automobile firms are suffering due to this shortage. In this list, a new name of ‘BMW’ has been added. Recently, the company announces it pulled off the touchscreen capability from some of its vehicles due to the ongoing chip shortage.

However, the users can still reap the benefit of the infotainment system, but it’ll need to be navigated via the iDrive controller implemented on the center console.News of alteration was disclosed by ‘Bimmerfest’.

However, for the consumers’ convenience, the business has promised to provide a $500 discount on all vehicles that do not have a touchscreen capability.

Besides BMW, The news of the shortage of semiconductor chips in Toyota company has also been broked on news portals. Due to constant lockdowns, the production of semiconductor chips is disrupted badly. Hence, nowadays a huge reduction has been observed in vehicle production globally.

Not only the automobile sector but the mobile sector is also badly disrupted due to less production of chips. Recently, Apple is also seen reducing the iPad production for producing more iPhones.
