The Monday,s announcement is clearly a marked escalation from Musk, who criticized the stay at home orders to curb the spread of COVID-19, caused by the deadly virus.
Tesla’s Fremont factory in California was shut down since March 23, just after Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) issued a statewide order to stay at home.
The car manufacturer was pushing for an exception that could allow them to reopen the plant since the announcement of stay at home order.
The Alameda County officials said that they were negotiating about the matter with Tesla on a reopening plan.
Last week, Newsom had announced new guidance allowing some of the factories to reopen but claimed that counties could continue imposing limitations according to their need.
Due to this fact on May 9, Tesla’s attorneys filed a lawsuit seeking an injunction against the county’s stay at home order.
Musk had tweeted the same day informing that Tesla could move out of California due to the handling of the coronavirus by the county.
The plant had started producing cars again over the weekend, as reported by The Verge.
Newsom said that he was surprised by the report and needed more details at a press conference held on Monday.
When Musk was asked about his statement and he diminished the threat of the coronavirus and had tweeted before that there could be close to zero new cases by the end of April.
