Facebook recently revealed its plans to launch a visual search feature to allow Instagram users to make purchases on the photo-sharing app Instagram. Visual Search feature will also allow Instagram users to try their favorite products on the platform before purchasing with the help of Augmented Reality (AR).
“We’re focusing on immersive technologies like Augmented Reality and Artificial Intelligence, which will form the core of how we purchase online,” says the company. The new visual search option also aids vendors in introducing their new product line to customers all around the world.
A imilar feature had been launched by Snapchat a few years back which allows Snapchat users to try the products on Snapchat using augmented technology before buying, the feature helped several businesses to earn a satisfactory amount of profit during the covid era, and now Instagram also going to follow its footsteps by launching this feature on the photo-sharing platform. Instagram will begin the testing of the visual search feature by the end of 2021. The feature will run on Artificial Intelligence (AI).
How will be the new feature works?
Users need to tap on a photo of an outfit they like to search for comparable products through this new feature. They can also conduct a visual search by capturing images using their camera.
