PNB customers’ data was leaked for nine months, according to cyber security firm CyberX9. Private details of lakhs of bank clients were compromised owing to flaws in Punjab National Bank’s systems, according to research by a cyber security firm.
Several news sites published a statement from cyber security firm CyberX9. PNB’s systems were exposed to the data of its 180 billion users as a result of the data breach. However, the bank claimed in a four-point explanation that all data systems linked to the bank’s servers were examined, and no data breach as described in the news portals was discovered. The bank wrote,
“We have investigated our background systems, and no system breach or exposure of any of our consumers’ info have been discovered,”
The bank also stated that it has implemented data protection technologies that prohibit unlawful data sets from being sent over email. As per the bank, Internal personnel is also prohibited to see the data, according to the system. The flaw was patched on November 19, according to CyberX9.
The cyber security firm also stated that it informed CERT-In and the National Critical Information Infrastructure Protection Center about the attack.
