After taking a major step last year by banning 220 Chinese apps Indian government is expected to ban Chinese smartphone brands in India. Recently Indian government sent a notice to Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo, and One plus to give details on the data and components used in the smartphones unless they will get banned in India.
The reason behind this measure is the security concerns amid the ongoing tensions between China and India. After getting the following details Indian government is also expected to test these smartphones. However, since the news came to light none of these companies have come forward to clarify the issue.
How Will it impact Indian consumers?
Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi, and One plus have over 50% shares in the Indian smartphone market, most of the consumers in India prefer to buy these Chinese brands’ phones because they sell cheap smartphones with good features. Everyone can’t afford to purchase Apple, Samsung, and other big-brand phones.
If suddenly all these Chinese brands disappear from the Indian smartphone market, then it will have a bad impact on the pocket of the common man. Although after the ban of Chinese smartphone companies, many new companies will also likely to enter the Indian smartphone market, but it can take a lot of time and there is no guarantee that those smartphones will be within our budget or not.
There will be a huge loss to the shopkeepers.
There is hardly any such mobile shop in which smartphones of Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi, and One Plus are not available, in almost every mobile shop you will find these brands, so if these brands are banned in India, then the rest stock of smartphones available in mobile shops will be wasted and the shopkeepers will suffer a lot financially.
