Online gaming in India is under threat of cyber fraud. According to a report, 4 out of 5 Indian users are being made victims of cyber fraud in online gaming platforms. Users are being financially targeted by this cyber fraud. So far, hackers have collected up to Rs 7,894 from every Indian user through online fraud.

During the last three quarters, 75 percent of Indian gamers have been exposed to cyber-attacks. Malicious software has been used in gaming devices to carry out these cyber attacks. About 35 percent of the devices have unauthorized access by malicious software during online gaming.

People have been made victims of banking fraud mostly through email phishing, although due to the increasing use of online gaming for some years, hackers are carrying out their evil plans through online gaming.

A major reason for this cyber fraud is downloading pirated versions of games by gamers. In such games, hackers can easily bundle malware and install it in players’ systems, with the help of which they can empty players’ bank accounts.

If a report by Akamai Technologies is to be believed, the gaming industry was the victim of 12 billion cyber frauds between November 2017 and March 2019.
