Google customers will soon be able to access their health data on the platform, as the company is currently testing an app that allows users to save their health details. The app will acquire the user’s medical history from his health providers. However, because the Google Health app is still in the development stage, we may see some additional modifications once it is released. Ishan Agarwal, a tipster, broke the news and shared the information along with a screenshot of the app.
The app will give users a comprehensive view of their health condition by obtaining data from their doctor’s visit, lab reports, and other sources. Apart from that, users will also be able to exchange their health data with family and friends via the Google health app. Google will develop an application programming interface (API) that will allow the app to collect health data from various healthcare providers. Google has been aiming to develop this app since the beginning of 2021, as a renowned news channel reported earlier this year.
Google has also begun hiring suitable candidates from Northern California, Atlanta, and Chicago to work on this app. Although Google has not confirmed the news, it is still unsure when the app will be released on the Play Store. Besides Google, Apple also released its Health app seven years ago, which functions similarly to Google’s health app. Apple, on the other hand, also allows users to track their daily physical activities in addition to keeping track of their health data.
After Apple’s health app, the Google health app is predicted to be the second most used health app. Health-related apps are becoming increasingly popular, which is why various IT giants, as well as emerging app developers, are trying to enter this market. Due to this, Google now devotes a significant amount of time to developing health-related features and apps. In May, Google also announced the launch of a tool that will allow users to learn about their skin health conditions. The tool will be built using AI technology and will assist users in understanding their skin, hair, and nail-related issues.
