Google is updating its Pixel Buds A-Series wireless headphones, adding a bass slider, a loudness compensation setting for improved bass and treble performance at low levels, and a great connection increase. It’s good to see Google offering new functionality through software updates, especially since the buds cost just $99 (or free if you preordered a Pixel 6 or 6 Pro).
There will be more control over the bass performance. The buds already featured a “bass boost” option, but now you can use a four-step slider to increase the bass — or turn it down if you like.
If the Pixel Buds A-Series can’t connect to the previous device you used them with, Google claims they’ll try to connect to the one before that.
If you have them linked to your phone before using them with your computer, they might automatically connect to your phone when you remove them from the case.
The update, version 282, will be “rolling out over the coming days” if you have a Pixel running Android 10 or above, or if you have the Pixel Buds app loaded on any phone running Android 6 or higher (as long as it has permission to see nearby devices).
