On Tuesday, Flipkart made announcement that it is moving forth with a list of eight finalists who have been selected for it’s startup accelerator program that was launched in August last year. The program will provide a 16-week mentorship program to start with. This will be mentored by a team consisting of several Flipkart leaders and Industry experts. The E commerce giant launched ‘Flipkart Leap’ to induce the growth of startups by enhancing its scale, navigating challenges and overall facilitating development in the entrepreneurial ecosystem in India.
“After a rigorous four-stage process, eight finalists were shortlisted from among more than 920 applicants across five categories: Design and Make for India; Innovations in Digital Commerce; Technologies to Empower Retail;SCM and Logistics; and Enabling Deep Tech Applications”, a statement said.
All the eight finalists will be getting an equity free grant of USD 25,000.
“With Flipkart Leap, we aim to nurture promising startups and help them create compelling solutions for customers and bring value to the industry. The quality of the startups and the number of applications we received has been encouraging, Flipkart Vice President (Product Strategy and Deployment ) Naren Ravula said.
The first phase of the mentorship program will be based on one-on-one mentoring by several leaders, followed by networking sessions and the second phase will help these startups to explore various partnership opportunities in consideration with the most relevant business unit at the Walmart owned E-commerce platform, Flipkart.
The top 8 selected cohort companies are: Anas Commerce, Anthropic Tech., Fishnza, Galley Network, Puggy, Tugbush Solutions, Nabush Robotics, and Volks Technology (Crop).
Flipkart Leap is a four month long program partnered with Zinnov, an initiative to lend a supporting hand to startups at a time now when the pandemic has already affected many potential business ventures.
The applications for the program were evaluated on the basis of a three stage screening process and the shortlisted ones were then called up for a pitch session headed by Flipkart leaders. The chosen companies were able enough to prove their capabilities and relevance in the respective fields for making it to the top eight.
