Are you concerned about what you’d do if you lost your phone? No worries, Google will soon bring out a new feature called ‘Spot’ that will assist users in locating their missing phone. According to Google, the feature will enable over three billion mobile users to locate their missing devices. However, Google already has a feature that has helped several people locate their missing mobile devices, but it only works with smartphones that have an internet or WiFi connection.

The new feature that Google is planning to launch will allow Android, tablet, and WearOS watch users locate their missing devices without the need for an internet or WiFi connection. This new feature, called “Spot,” can be found in the Google Play service’s beta version. Google, on the other hand, has yet to confirm this. However, apart from Google, Apple also offers a feature called “find my app” that allows users to locate their missing iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Mac devices using Bluetooth without the need for an internet connection. Users can easily find the device’s location on a map, and the feature also keeps the device’s data safe. Inspired by Apple Google has also opted to release a similar feature for its users. Every day in India, multiple mobile phone missing cases are reported to police stations, but police can’t trace down every missing phone.

Therefore to cope up with this issue in the past some mobile companies introduced an in-built GPS tracking facility to find missing mobile devices, although even after using an in-built GPS tracker phone it had been observed that the GPS trackers were not able to provide the exact location of the phone. Therefore, it’s critical for mobile or app developers to release tracking features or apps so that users can easily track the exact location of the devices without needing to follow any complex procedure. Google and Apple have made commendable efforts, and I hope that other mobile or application developers will also follow in their footsteps.
