In reaction to the new recommendations released by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention(CDC), Twitter has stated that its offices in New York and San Francisco would be closed.

On July 12, the microblogging site reopened its headquarters after a two-week hiatus.

“Twitter has made the decision to close our opened offices in New York and San Francisco as well as pause future office reopenings, effective immediately,” a company spokesperson told TechCrunch on Wednesday.

“We’re continuing to closely monitor local conditions and make necessary changes that prioritize the health and safety of our Tweeps,” the spokesperson added.

Only three months after recommending that vaccinated individuals no longer need to wear masks inside or out, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has now suggested that people resume wearing masks because of the rising delta variant.

Even if they’ve been vaccinated, those who live in high-transmission areas should wear masks in indoor public settings, according to the new guideline. It was also suggested that vaccinated persons with susceptible household members, such as small children and those with weakened immune systems, wear masks inside in public areas. The new CDC rules were also taken into consideration by other tech businesses.

Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google and Alphabet, said the business will need staff to get vaccinated before returning to work later this year.

Customers and employees at most of Apple’s over 270 US retail locations will be required to wear masks beginning Thursday, even if they have been vaccinated. Amazon and Facebook have verified similar vaccination and mask-wearing rules.

When Facebook employees return to the office in the United States, they will be required to get vaccinated against Covid-19. “As our offices reopen, we will be requiring anyone coming to work at any of our US campuses to be vaccinated,” Facebook’s vice president of people Lori Goler told The Verge.

Netflix will also need Covid-19 vaccinations for the cast and crew of its American films.
