In 2016, a girl gave her phone to an apple repair center at california for repair, and two Pegatron workers who were repairing her phone shared her images and videos on Facebook, exposing one of the most serious privacy breaches at the Apple repair shop.
When the youngster learned about it from a friend, she filed a lawsuit against Apple for causing “serious mental trauma.” The content was later removed, but it was not enough because the girl had to go through a lot of emotional suffering as a result of the incident.
The whole incident of how the two technicians posted multiple naked images and a private video of a girl on a fake Facebook handle created in her name was first disclosed by Telegraph in the documents given to the court. Apple received a lot of backlash from rivals and consumers after this incident, as Apple is one of the most well-known mobile phone manufacturers in the world.
However, following the incident, an Apple spokesperson issued a statement saying, “We at Apple are very concerned about the privacy and security of our Customers’ data and implement multiple processes to secure the data of customers when their phones are being repaired.” “The company has dismissed the two employees who released the images and a video of a female,” he added.
