Earlier this month, Panasonic revealed that it suffered a data breach. The company says in a report that some third party was able to access the network, making the computer systems vulnerable.
In a press release from Panasonic, there was an investigation taking place after the cyber intruder allegedly accessed one of their file servers and its stored data during the breach.
“After detecting the unauthorized access, the company immediately reported the incident to the relevant authorities and implemented security countermeasures, including steps to prevent external access to the network,” Panasonic said in a statement.According to the reports of techtimes
The reports further say that the cyber attackers were able to invade the servers’ stored information, harming the company and also its business partners. The company’s subsidiary also suffered a data breach in November, leaking some kind of customer information.
“We cannot predict whether it will affect our business or business performance, but we cannot deny the possibility of a serious incident,” the company told Mainichi on Friday.
The surprising fact is that even though the attackers were able to invade the internal information, the company didn’t realize the attack in months. The company realized the breach after they witnessed abnormal network traffic. The company immediately reported the incident and has since then been partnering up with others to implement several security countermeasures.
For now, the company is trying to find out the attackers and is trying to take all the preventing measures to prevent any further such breaches.
