Telegram unveiled a group video call option for its users to compete with internet giants Zoom and WhatsApp. Telegram users had been requesting this feature for over a year, and it has finally been introduced.This is excellent news for Telegram users who use it for business purposes. To take advantage of this feature, users must install the most recent version of Telegram on their devices. Previously, the feature was scheduled to launch in May, however, due to some technical issues, Telegram was postponed the launch to June.
The users can also reap the benefit of the video pin option that allows the users to pin the video feed to their screen so that they remained at the center even if a new participant joins the video conversation. Aside from that, the feature also allows users to share their screens during video conferences. Telegram is also concerned about the privacy of its 400 million active users, which is why they are taking all necessary precautions to assure user safety while doing group video calling.”By adding a group video call option in Telegram, we hope to make the platform more powerful for group video calls,” said Telegram CEO Pavel Durov in a recent statement.
Telegram was first launched in 2013 by two Russian brothers Nikolai and Pavel Durov who owns, Russia’s largest social network company “VK”. Since the launch of the app they have updated several features to attract internet users to the platform and somehow they have become successful in achieving their goal and now It is expected that telegram is set to join the race of top video calling platforms like Google Meet, Skype, and Zoom by introducing “Group video call” feature to the platform.
