In India, the microblogging website Koo earns great popularity as a medium of communication in Hindi. Approximately half of Koo’s 10 million users write posts in Hindi, around 50 million Hindi-language posts are currently present in the Koo app.
By offering users to write posts in different Indian languages Koo aims to fulfill the wish of Indian users to chat in their own languages. As per Koo’s representative “the platform aims to democratize India’s voice, as it strives to eradicate bias toward non-English speaking viewers”.
Koo has evolved into a space wherein Indian users who are at ease speaking their own tongue may publicly share their opinions.In terms of the number of Hindi postings, Koo is much ahead of its competitors. In comparison to other microblogging platforms, more Hindi posts have been present on Koo.
Recently, the userbase of this microblogging platform has also climbed by 80% since the launch of the app. Several popular Indian personalities are the users of Koo including Yogi Adityanath and Ashok Gehlot who’re mostly express their opinions in Hindi on the microblogging platform.
Moreover, West Bengal’s All India Trinamool Congress (@AITC) — Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s party also has a Koo account. Apart from that, several Bollywood actors or actresses like Tiger Shroff, Kriti Sanon, and Shraddha Kapoor also have an account on Koo.
