The Managing Director of Twitter India who was asked to summon to the UP Police on Friday regarding the Loni assault case has got interim relief from the Karnataka High Court. According to the document, if Ghaziabad Police wished to examine him, they may do so in virtual form.
The police had been informed by Twitter India’s attorneys that Maheshwari was available for interrogation via video chat, but the cops issued a new notice on Tuesday, requesting that he come before them.
“Clarification given by you is inappropriate. Being the MD of Twitter in India, you are the representative of the company. Therefore, you are bound by the Indian law to cooperate in the investigation,” the police had said in its notice.
Meanwhile, Maheshwari went to the Karnataka High Court, which gave him temporary relief and ordered the UP Police not to use any coercive measures against him till the next date of hearing in the case, which is scheduled for June 29.
According to the reports from Bangalore, Maheshwari was issued a notice issued by the UP Police under Section 41A of the CrPC, seeking him to report before the police for his statement to be getting recorded.
