New updates have been introduced to Twitter, designed to safeguard consumer privacy. It incorporates privacy suggestions from users as well as a privacy check-in option. The suggestions include who can send them direct messages, or who can tag them in pictures, based on these suggestions Twitter will decide what kind of update requires to facilitate to the user. This will assist the users in maintaining their Twitter account privacy.

Furthermore, the users will also be able to mask their Twitter handle from the search results with the latest update. This would help Twitter users who are subjected to cyberbullying on the microblogging platform. According to Twitter Experience Designer Lena Emara, “Every person wants privacy, no one loves the interference of strangers in their personal life. However, not everyone is fortunate enough to receive it”. He further added “In such a case, people’s opinions and privacy suggestions are solicited via Twitter.

Most individuals, do not wish his tweets to be hidden, so it is important to get the idea from the users as to how they want to protect their account. Online trolling becomes very common nowadays, everyday several people got trolled for any reason, not only common people but celebrities, and politicians are also subjected to cyberbullying.

To curb social media bullying several private internet organizations and individuals are working to explain to people the mental effects caused by cyberbullying, many petitions are also filed to take action against cyberbullying, however, still cyberbullying continues on social media platforms which badly impact people’s mental health, every year several suicide attempts were reported due to cyberbullying, in such circumstances to curb this many social media platforms took action.

A few years back Instagram had also launched an update that allows users to block or filter their comments to prevent themselves from being bullied and now Twitter has also followed in its footsteps by introducing this new feature. Besides this, Twitter also updated or is going to update many other useful features for its users including audio networking service Twitter Spaces, Birdwatch, Twitter Blue, tip jar, and Super Follow.
