Microsoft announced the imminent release of Microsoft Defender for Business on Tuesday, a new security product that will be available for preview soon. According to Microsoft 365 product marketing manager Jon Maunder in a blog post, the tool is “specially engineered to offer enterprise-grade endpoint security to organizations with up to 300 employees, in an easy-to-use and cost-effective solution.”
Customers will be able to purchase the platform straight from Microsoft as a standalone product for $3 per user per month once the tool is released.
According to Maunder, Microsoft was compelled to establish the platform as a result of a 300 percent spike in ransomware assaults in the previous year. According to Microsoft research, more than half of all assaults are capable of reaching small firms.
“Defender for Business extends security beyond standard antivirus to include next-generation protection, endpoint detection and response, threat and vulnerability management, and other features. It combines intelligent, automated investigation and remediation with simpler configuration and maintenance. Defender for Business protects your business against cybersecurity threats such as malware and ransomware on Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android devices ” Maunder said.
Everything from threat and vulnerability management to misconfiguration repair, attack surface reduction, antimalware and antivirus protection is covered by the platform. Endpoint detection and response, manual response actions, automated investigation features, and other capabilities are also included. Moreover, installing and managing the platform does not require “expert security knowledge.”
“Defender for Business is designed to provide maximum security value at a cost that is affordable for your company. Its simplicity enables you to enrol and manage endpoint security with less operational overhead and less strain of learning sophisticated cybersecurity principles to safeguard your organisation.” Itl will operate regardless of whether your email and productivity tools are on-premises, Microsoft 365, or alternative solutions.
It will be provided with Microsoft 365 Business Premium accounts and will be compatible with Microsoft 365 Lighthouse. Microsoft stated in April that the preview version of its sophisticated security software Microsoft Defender for Endpoint now supports unmanaged Windows, Linux, macOS, iOS, and Android devices, as well as network devices. Microsoft launched a new package of technologies designed to safeguard NGOs this month, as threats against charitable groups have increased internationally, notably from nation-states.
