Phishing attacks are basically the art of sending or communicating information that appears to come from a reputable source. The main way of executing a phishing attack is by sending malicious emails.

They are mostly done to gather sensitive information such as credentials, login information to sell it on the dark web. Phishing is a common type of cyber attack that everyone should learn about in order to protect themselves.

Recently, the APWG Phishing Activity Trends Report analyzed the latest phishing trends and the month of July witnessed more than 250000 attacks the highest since 2004.

The reports also states that the phishing victimized software-as-a-service and webmail industries the most in Q3 2021. The industries accounted for 29.1% of all attacks. Attacks against payment providers and financial institutions accounted for a staggering 34.9%.

Cryptocurrency-related phishing attacks made up 5.6% of all attacks. The number of brands being attacked rose to 715 in September from 400 per month.

According to the reports of Cyware

The phishing attacks have increased a lot in past years and the ones that got reported came out to be really less. This is the reason why the organization suffers huge losses due to these attacks because they don’t have the resources or backups to tackle these kinds of attacks.
