A video game console is a basic video gaming device that makes the requirement of a monitor mandatory. They are compact and therefore, can be used anywhere with an electrical output. Storage devices like hard disks and memory cards are used by them. A different category of video game consoles is handheld game consoles. They are lightweight, include a screen and can be taken anywhere and everywhere at any time. A large number of games can be played on it.
There are a large number of gaming consoles available in the market, therefore, we have formulated a list of best selling game consoles –
Nintendo Switch

is Nintendo. It can be used as both – a home console and a portable device. Users can play online with wireless connectivity and local wireless connectivity with different consoles. It is manufactured by Foxconn.
The latest version is the eight generation. It’s best selling game is Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. The controller input includes Joy-Con, Nintendo Switch Pro Controller and GameCube Controller assisted with an adapter. Nintendo Switch was first released on March 3, 2017 and has managed to sell over 52.48 million units of the same.
The Nintendo Switch supports both physical and digital games and as of now, there are a total number of 2188 games which Nintendo Switch supports. Check out the list here.
Nintendo 3DS

is a handheld video game console launched by Nintendo. It is special because it has the ability of visualising 3D effects without the utilisation of 3D glasses or any other accessories. It had its competition with Sony’s PlayStation Vita. It has 128 MB FCRAM and 6 MB VRAM. It has a storage capacity of 2GB Toshiba eMMC. It possesses stereo speakers and a microphone. It’s best selling game is Mario Kart 7. It is manufactured by Nintendo, Foxconn. Nintendo 3DS was first released on February 26, 2011 and since then, it has successfully sold 75.71 million units.

Xbox One

Xbox One is a home video game console developed by Microsoft. It is the third console in the Xbox series. It is the first video game console that was released in China. It got it’s name as ‘Xbox One’ because Microsoft marked it as “all in one entertainment system”. It’s competitors are Sony’s PlayStation Vita and Nintendo’s Wii U and Switch. It is manufactured by Flextronics, Foxconn. It has a memory of 8GB DDR3 and 32MB SRAM. All models have a storage of 1 TB. The controller input for Xbox One includes Xbox One Controller, Kinect for Xbox One, Keyboard and a Mouse. It’s predecessor is Xbox 360 and successor is Xbox Series X. Xbox One was released on 2013 and has sold 46.9 million units since then.

PlayStation 4

Sony. It is famously known as PS4. It is manufactured by Sony, Foxconn. It has a memory of 8 GB GDDR5 and 256 MB DDR3 RAM. It has a storage capacity of 500 GB, 1 TB and 2 TB. The controller inputs include DualShock 4, PlayStation Move and PlayStation Vita. Sony has also launched a smaller version for the same, PlayStation 4 Slim and a higher version named PlayStation 4 Pro. It was first released in 2013 and has, since then sold approximately 106 million units.

Wii U

Wii U is a home game console developed by Nintendo. It came as a successor to Wii and is regarded as the first generation video game console. It is also known as Project Cafè which is it’s code name. It is manufactured by Nintendo, Foxconn, Mitsumi. It has a memory of 2 GB DDR3 and a storage capacity of 8 GB for a Basic Set and 32 GB for a Deluxe Set. The controller inputs include Wii U GamePad, Wii U Pro Controller, Nintendo 3DS and Wii Balance Board. It’s best selling game is Mario Kart 8. It was first released in 2012 and has since then, sold around 13.56 million units.

Xbox 360

Xbox 360 is also a home video game console and it’s developer is Microsoft. It is manufactured by Flextronics, Wistron, Celestica and Foxconn. It has a memory of 512 MB GDDR3 RAM and 10 MB of eDRAM. The storage capacity differs for different models. The controllers include Xbox 360 Controller, Xbox 360 Wireless Racing Wheel, Rhythm Game controllers , Big Button Pads, Xbox 360 Arcade sticks, Ace Combat 6 Flight Stick and Kinect. It was first released on November 22, 2005 and has sold more than 84 million units.
